BA cabin crew back negotiations
27.02.10
BA cabin crew have backed more talks and did not announce a date for strike action at a mass meeting this week. Originally they had been expected to name strike dates at the meeting, but instead they called on Unite to try to negotiate a settlement with the airline over pay, staff cuts and changes to working arrangements. There are also some reports of division within the union and between staff - who want negotiation - and senior union officials who are said to want a strike.
Unite members meeting on Thursday backed their negotiating team's attempts to resolve the dispute with the company, the union said. The meeting backed the union negotiating team to continue their work to reach a settlement in the row, and to propose strike dates for authorisation only if it proves impossible to reach such an agreement through negotiation.
