Aviance UK has been fined £90,000 for the death of an engineer who was crushed to death by an electric vehicle at Heathrow. Maintenance engineer Mohammed Taj, 52, died when a ‘tug’ used for pulling baggage fell on his head during an inspection in March 2008.
Mr Taj was checking the brakes on the vehicle but had no other support under the tug when it toppled over on him. Newcastle based Aviance UK admitted breaking health and safety legislation at the Old Bailey.
