Flights affected by French air traffic control strike
22.07.10
An air traffic control strike disrupted flights from airports across France yesterday as many people were leaving for their summer holidays. One in five flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle were cancelled, and half Paris Orly flights were cancelled. easyJet cancelled about a third of its departures from Charles de Gaulle and Orly to destinations across Europe.
Unions representing French air traffic controllers called the strike to protest against plans to merge 4000 controllers and 8000 other the civil aviation authority (DGAC) staff into a European-wide body. The action is scheduled to run until 07:00 this morning and is the third major airport strike in France this year, after similar actions in January and February.
