Heathrow Express offer
11.07.10
BAA's six UK airports handled 9.5m passengers in June , a drop of 1.7% on last year. Passenger numbers were affected by BA cabin crew strikes, without which it estimates that Heathrow (down 1.3%) would have seen 140,000 more passengers and would have seen a 2.5% increase on last June, and overall its UK airports would have match the total from a year ago.
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen were also affected by the strikes, with drops of 2.0%, 7.0% and 4.0% respectively. Southampton recorded a 3.7% increase and Stansted had a drop of 5.2%.
Overall, the UK airports recorded a drop of 3.1% in air transport movements. Cargo continued a period of strong growth, with tonnage up by 36.1% at Heathrow and by 33.7% at the group level.
