Cyprus Airways axe Paphos flights
09.07.11
Cyprus Airways will suspend its Paphos - Heathrow flights from October 29. A spokesman for the airline said the reason for the cut was financial and that the route may be reinstated for the summer season next year.
However, manager of the Paphos regional board of tourism, Nassos Hadjigeorgiou said: ‘These flights are very popular. This a very negative development, as it is one of the busiest airports of the world. If Cyprus Airways abandon this route, it will be very difficult for another airline to find slots at Heathrow as it is so busy. I believe that they will try to sell the slots for huge amounts of money.’
