Heathrow Express pay dispute settled
08.07.11
A 'vastly improved' pay deal has been accepted by Heathrow Express staff, resolving a dispute that had resulted in strike action. RMT Union representatives had recommended members accept the offer, which was put to the workforce ahead of a second-stage of planned walkouts last month. It was overwhelmingly accepted by staff in a ballot.
Richard Robinson, Heathrow Express managing director, said: ‘This pay settlement is a good agreement that rewards staff well whilst ensuring we protect the long term viability of the business. Throughout the negotiations everyone has been working to avoid inconvenience to our customers. This successful conclusion means we can all focus on enhancing our highly regarded business.’
A RMT spokesman said: ‘We would like to pay tribute to the determination of our members at Heathrow Express in securing this vastly improved offer.’
