BA agrees to settle US cargo class action lawsuit
08.06.11
BA has agreed to pay $89.5m to settle a class-action lawsuit over claims that it had conspired with other airlines to fix prices for air cargo, according to Hausfield, a law firm that brought the case. The firm has now settled with 11 airlines from around the world, for a total of almost $434m. Other settlements include Lufthansa for $85m and Air France-KLM for $87m.
The BA settlement covers actions from 2000 to 2006. It still needs approval by a federal judge in New York. An affiliate of the US law firm is suing BA in London, and this litigation is not affected by the settlement in the US.
