Virgin cabin crew 'stole passenger's £3000 upgrade fee'
07.06.11
Virgin Atlantic cabin crew were caught stealing the £3000 cash a passenger paid to be upgraded, the Sun reports. Seven flight attendants kept the money the man paid to be moved to first class.
The passenger had to pay for the upgrade in cash as credit card payments are not allowed on the flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Heathrow because of the airline's anti-fraud policy. However instead of handing the money in, the crew are alleged to have kept it.
The incident only came to light when the man tried to claim loyalty points and the airline had no record of his payment. The crew involved have been arrested and the police are trying to find out if any other passengers were affected. Virgin Atlantic is also investigating the incident, adding: ‘We are currently going through a disciplinary process and appropriate action will be taken.’
