IAG premium traffic up 8.7%; traffic up 2.2%

Traffic figures at IAG - the holding company of BA and Iberia - were up by 2.2% in August on a revenue passenger kilometre basis. Premium traffic grew by 8.7% and there was 1.4% growth in non-premium traffic. Capacity measured in available seat kilometres was up 2.1%.
The number of passengers carried fell by 3.6% to 4.8 million, with a 22.5% drop in domestic (UK and Spain) passengers on a reduction in domestic capacity of 21.5%. A spokesman for the company said underlying trends are in line with its expectations, with continued growth in premium versus non-premium volumes.
