BA parent IAG would like to buy BMI
04.06.11
IAG, the parent company of British Airways, is interested in buying BMI, Reuters reports that Chief Executive Willie Walsh said today. IAG renewed its interest in the UK airline because of its slots at Heathrow. BMI's slot holding at Heathrow, at 12%, is second only to BA's 42%.
Mr Walsh told Reuters at the IATA airlines conference in Singapore: ‘I have said in the past we are interested; it is really a decision for Lufthansa.’ He added that IAG, which has expressed interest in expanding to include other airlines, was not currently looking at any other targets.
