A new coalition of the UK's biggest airlines and airport operators that will champion their interests is to be called the Aviation Foundation, the Independent reports. Virgin, BA, Manchester Airports Group and BAA are in early to set up the group, but have already given the organisation a name.
The four aviation companies plan to use the pressure group demonstrate the social and economic benefits of the industry. One aim is to show that airport expansion is of benefit to the wider economy. The group will take the remit of the now defunct aviation industry pressure group Flying Matters.
